HOMESCHOOL NATURE ENRICHMENT

Wild Bear is excited to partner with ALPINE INTERNATIONAL PREPARATORY ACADEMY (AIPA) to provide nature enrichment opportunities two days a week for local homeschool families.

At Wild Bear, children enjoy a full day of outdoor studies at Mud Lake and the surrounding natural areas of Nederland. Wild Bear incorporates science, ecology, arts, writing, survival skills, and more into our programming to inspire a love of nature and encourage children’s natural curiosity.

Each program will focus on a specific theme and align with their grade level studies. Wild Bear brings the learning of all subjects into the outdoors of our beautiful Nederland area!

THE INTERCONNECTED FOREST

  • Piece by piece, we’ll put together the giant nature puzzle of our mountains by exploring the interconnectedness of life in the forest!

OCTOBER

AUTUMN ADVENTURES

  • Let’s celebrate the busyness of preparing for the upcoming winter! We’ll observe leaves changing, birds migrating, and others starting to hoard and hibernate.

NOVEMBER

GEOLOGY ROCKS

  • Did you know that there are fossils of ocean creatures here in our Rocky Mountains? How does that make sense? Let’s find out together as we inquiry into the world of rocks!

DECEMBER

THE EARTH IN SPACE

  • What does it mean to get to live on this very special third rock from the sun? and why don’t we feel like we’re spinning around and around? Let's explore what it all means and celebrate the change of season!

JANUARY

WINTER CREATURES

  • Under snow, or up high in the trees, we’ll discover who is still around, and how they survive the long winter in the mountains!

FEBRUARY

WATER IS LIFE

  • From snowflakes falling, to our creeks and reservoirs, to the little cloud you make by breathing in the winter, we’ll investigate how water allows for life on earth, and how it moves around our globe.

MARCH

ECOSYSTEM CONNECTIONS

  • Revisiting our giant nature puzzle, we’ll research how all of the pieces play a part and how we all affect everything else. We’re all connected, and what we do matters!

APRIL

MAY

SIGNS OF SPRING

  • Stick your hands in the mud! Wild Bears will get their hands dirty as snowmelt softens the soils feeding new blooms, frogs unfreeze, birds return from their long journeys, and bug sounds fill the air.

ABOUT AIPA

We offer unique tuition free homeschool enrichment programs in Colorado. Our nature center partners throughout the state provide amazing facilities and industry expert staff that work with AIPA staff. These programs are the top experiential learning opportunities for homeschool students. Classes meet from 9am-3pm once per week during the school year (34 classes total).

AIPA offers a K-12 homeschool enrichment program for students that have filed homeschool status within a school district. Students are only eligible to participate in one public homeschool enrichment program and can't be enrolled in any other public-school options.

Homeschool enrichment students are responsible for participating in a minimum of 90 classroom hours per semester. Students bring sack lunches and need to dress appropriately for the outdoor education environment. Due to the course assignments and requirements onsite, AIPA students do not receive homework.

Cost: Our homeschool programs with AIPA are tuition free if requirements are met, including filed homeschool status, not being enrolled in any other public school options, and attending the count date programs (last week of September, and first week of October). Late enrollment/drop-ins are welcome for a fee of $85/day.
