In honor of Wild Bear volunteer and photography enthusiast Chuck Edelstein, this is a perfect opportunity to learn landscape photography directly from John Fielder.
This class will begin at Wild Bear Nature Center, 20 Lakeview Drive, Nederland, Colorado. Then, the group will carpool to various gorgeous sites to photograph the seasonal mountain landscape.
Find out how John creates his award-winning images and gain a deeper understanding of the visual aspects of nature. In a comprehensive 3-hour slide show lecture learn how to improve your compositions and get an insider’s look at professional techniques, including the select few menu items and buttons you need to use on your camera.

After lunch, John will discuss the most important tools used in the post-processing program Lightroom. Appropriate for all levels of photographers, beginner to advanced.
Then spend 4 hours up to sunset in a few of John’s favorite locations in and around Wild Bear and the Peak to Peak Highway, photographing side-by-side with John. Expect early fall colors. He will show you his compositions in his LCD, and he will critique yours. Any type of digital camera, point & shoot or SLR, is appropriate. If you bring an SLR, bring a tripod too for sunset photos.

1:30 – 2:00: slide lecture: Post-processing your digital images with Lightroom
2:00 – 2:30: review of camera settings and tripods

John Fielder has worked tirelessly to promote the protection of Colorado’s ranches, open space, and wildlands during his 35-year career as a nature photographer and publisher. His photography has influenced people and legislation and has earned him recognition including the 1993 Sierra Club Ansel Adams Award, in 2011 the Aldo Leopold Foundation’s first Achievement Award ever given to an individual, and in 2017 Colorado Mountain College presented him an Honorary Degree in Sustainability Studies. 50 books have been published depicting his Colorado photography. He teaches photography workshops to adults and children, and his latest books are and Colorado Black on White and A Colorado Winter. He lives in Summit County, Colorado.
