Art in the Wild: Weaving the Colors of Nature with Rachel Thurber

  • Wild Bear Nature Center 20 Lakeview Drive Nederland, CO, 80466 United States (map)

ABOUT
Using hand held frame looms, you will be creating stunning woven tapestries from scratch. While surrounded by the beauty of nature, we will draw inspiration from our environment to create these pieces. You can look forward to learning the basic steps of weaving, and a more advanced style called the tapestry weave. All finished products will be taken home, along with the frame loom to use for future projects. Workshop will take about 2 hours.

ARTIST’S BIO
Rachel Thurber is 25 years old and born and raised near Chicago, IL. She has always had a love for art, because it was the one thing she was able to have control over. After moving to Arizona to pursue her art at Arizona State University, she immediately became inspired by the environment that surrounded her. At that point she was taking all kinds of art classes, and found that fiber arts had a way of helping her cope in a way that nothing else could. She started weaving in 2017 and there was no turning back. Now, she currently resides in Boulder, Colorado, where she draws inspiration for her work from all the beauty our world has to offer.
