Before photography, botanical illustrations were used to share information about plants among scientists and gardeners. Today, botanical illustration flourishes as a fine art.

About the instructor:

Erin Barbeau is Wild Bear’s Community Engagement Director. Erin studied botanical illustration as part of her bachelor’s of biology focusing on comparative anatomy of plant species and plants of importance to humans. Erin has described new species of insects, worked in a quarantine facility with invasive species, worked at several museums including an aquarium, and studied caterpillars before joining the Wild Bear team.
