ALL THE DETAILS:
Tuesday weekly team days with a qualified and fun nature educator will include:
-Nature hikes
-Citizen science activities like butterfly and bird counts
-Visiting and helping other nature based institutions/organizations
-Science experiments and research
-Volunteering with natural area cleanups and maintenance, community garden plots, or on interim nature center projects etc.
Individual projects are self directed, club members choose a topic and goals with mentorship from Wild Bear leadership staff.
Team members will explore their topic and give a presentation, report, or lead an activity at the end of the summer based on what they’ve learned. Upon completion of their project, the team member will receive a certificate.
Examples:
-Survey plants on the Wild Bear property and create a plant checklist/guide.
-Assist with education programs, nature center exhibits, and nature center animal care.
-Participate in local research and stewardship projects.
-Volunteer with Wild Bear staff during outreach events, i.e. Nature Walks, Farmer’s Markets and more.
By the end of the summer:
-Complete an exciting journey to explore the impacts you made and will continue to make for the planet and -our community.
-You will have expanded your friendships and community service, professional skills, resume, and gained a deeper understanding of how we can help the earth.
-You will receive a reference and certificate of completion from Wild Bear staff, providing you with an excellent resume builder.
