A Model of Sustainability...

Imagine an off grid natural facility at the gateway of 3,200 acres
A Model of Sustainability... A “state of the art” model of living lightly, educating visitors about local natural ecosystems and our environmental impact.

Funded by Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), Barrett Studio Architects have completed conceptual drawings for the nature center on Wild Bear’s property at Mud Lake.

An amazing site, an amazing story...
Founded in 1995, Wild Bear is proud to have been honored this year as a finalist for a statewide environmental award, the El Pomar Award for Excellence. Wild Bear’s comprehensive efforts to initiate the community toward sustainability is evidenced through its growth in program participation, its ability to engage the community in efforts to preserve and protect the environment and through its long term vision to create a nature center facility that will inspire and educate visitors from all over the world for years to come. In 1999, voters approved the Mud Lake purchase and the nature center. In 2000 Wild Bear raised $100,000
to pay for its site and initiated volunteers to clean up 30 tons of trash off the 200 Mud Lake acres. Now, the Nature Center team has worked to create a plan and we look forward to seeing this vision to fruition.
